Edyta Manasterska-Wiącek

Edyta Manasterska-Wiącek is a Professor at the Department of Slavic Linguistics, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University's Faculty of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. Her research focuses on translation linguistics, child language acquisition, and modern Russian/Polish language norms. She has led university departments and EU-funded projects like "WWW.PRAKTYKI.WH.UMCS" (2010-2012).

Her translation research examines lexical transformations, emotional transfers, and intertextuality in children's texts. Recent work analyzes pandemic-related language shifts (2022-2023) and media discourse reception by youth. Articles span Cognitive Translation Studies, Linguistic Creativity, and Intercultural Communication, with key subfields: translation of humor, child-directed advertising, and lexical diffusion.

She teaches descriptive Russian grammar, contrastive linguistics, and translation analysis. As Kierownik Katedry, she directs academic programs in Slavic linguistics and translation studies.
