Edward Vogel is an Adjunct Professor of Music (Voice) at the College of Wooster. He specializes in vocal performance across a diverse repertoire spanning ten centuries, with notable solo engagements including Handel’s Messiah, Monteverdi’s Vespers, and Vaughan Williams’s Dona Nobis Pacem. His collaborations include Grammy-winning ensembles like Apollo’s Fire and True Concord Voices and Orchestra, under directors Jeannette Sorrell and Eric Holtan. Vogel’s 2023-24 season features a debut with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in Handel’s Israel in Egypt.
He holds a Master of Music from Yale School of Music (studying with James Taylor) and a Bachelor’s from the University of Notre Dame (under Stephen Lancaster). His training began with the Trinity Choir of Men and Boys in New Haven, CT, under R. Walden Moore, with whom he continues to collaborate.
Vogel’s artistic focus extends to recital work, emphasizing art song and cross-genre performance. He has honed his craft through Tanglewood Music Center fellowships, coaching with Dawn Upshaw, Roger Vignoles, and Sanford Sylvan. His performances blend historical and contemporary vocal traditions, showcasing versatility from medieval Iberian music to 20th-century British art songs.
