Edward Powers

Dr. Edward Powers serves as Chair of the Department of Sociology, Criminology, and Anthropology and Professor of Criminology at the University of Central Arkansas, based in Irby Hall 306E with contact via epowers@uca.edu or (501) 450-5694.

His academic credentials include a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and a B.A. from the University of Tulsa.

Research spans criminology, juvenile delinquency, crime theory, and social control mechanisms, with current emphasis on crime-society dynamics, electronic data systems, and program evaluation methodologies. He actively integrates undergraduate research into criminological studies.

As department chair and subject-matter expert, Dr. Powers applies program evaluation frameworks to criminal justice initiatives while mentoring students in applied criminology research projects.
