Edward Marcantonio is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Section Chief for Research in the Division of General Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Under his 18-year leadership, the research section has grown from 8 to 20 investigators with annual extramural funding increasing from $2 million to over $10 million.
His internationally recognized work focuses on delirium through over 15 major studies targeting:
- Diagnostic improvements
- At-risk population identification
- Modifiable risk factor discovery
- Interventions reducing incidence, severity, and duration
As a distinguished mentor in Harvard Catalyst's First Grant Bootcamp, he guides early-career researchers while currently leading four NIH-funded studies (three R01s, one P01 project), demonstrating sustained grant success.
