Edward Mabaya is a Research Professor in the Department of Global Development at Cornell University, with additional appointments as Professor Extraordinary at Stellenbosch University and Faculty Fellow at Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability. He directs the Humphrey Fellowship Program and the Graduate Field of Global Development, focusing on economic development in Sub-Saharan Africa.
His research spans food marketing, agribusiness environments, seed systems, digital agriculture, and agricultural market efficiency. Mabaya has received numerous accolades, including being named among 42 African Innovators to Watch (Ventures Africa, 2016) and Coca Cola Africa Diaspora Network recognition (2013), and has served as President of the African Association of Agricultural Economists (2017-2019).
- Education: PhD (2003) and MSc (1998) in Agricultural Economics from Cornell University; BSc (1994) in Agricultural Economics from University of Zimbabwe.
