Edward M. Kantor, MD is an Associate Professor and Residency Director in Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), within the College of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He holds leadership roles as co-director of the internal medicine/psychiatry and neurology/psychiatry combined training programs, and co-chair of the College of Medicine's GME diversity strategic planning committee. His clinical expertise spans emergency psychiatry, general hospital psychiatry, geriatrics, and disaster psychiatry.
- Education: Premed at University of Pennsylvania, MD from Drexel University (formerly Hahnemann University), Psychiatry residency at University of Virginia (as Chief Resident).
Research focuses on crisis/emergency mental health, graduate medical education diversity, and public mental health policy. He co-authored Disaster Psychiatry: Readiness, Evaluation, and Treatment (2012) and Hidden Impact (2010). Notable grants include an NIMH award for mental health stigma reduction and a HHS grant establishing the student-led UVAMRC medical reserve corps.
