Edward K. Vogel is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Chicago, with joint appointments at The Institute for Mind and Biology and the Grossman Institute for Neuroscience, Quantitative Biology and Human Behavior. His laboratory focuses on the neural mechanisms of attention and working memory using EEG, psychophysical, and neuroimaging approaches. Current research examines neural mechanisms underlying attention lapses and their relationship to individual differences in cognitive ability.
Research Interests: Dr. Vogel's expertise includes characterizing the capacity limits of attention and working memory in humans, investigating how these fundamental cognitive processes enable complex intelligent behavior, and exploring the neural basis of momentary attention failures and their contribution to variations in overall cognitive performance.
