Edward J. Dix is a Professor of Chemistry at Assumption University. He holds degrees from Corning Community College (A.S., 1986), Clarkson University (B.S., 1988), and the University of Rochester (M.S., 1990; Ph.D., 1994). His research focuses on medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry, and pharmaceutical development, particularly in antiplatelet agents, antiviral drugs, and chemical synthesis. He teaches undergraduate courses in Organic Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry.
His work includes developing prodrugs for herpes simplex treatments and investigating dual-specificity antiplatelet compounds targeting P2Y1 and P2Y12 receptors. Key publications appear in Antiviral Chemistry and Chemotherapy, European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, and Journal of Medicinal Chemistry.
Dr. Dix has presented at national and international conferences, including the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis and the American Chemical Society. His outreach efforts include a pharmaceutical development seminar for high school students.
