Edward Friedlander

Dr. Edward Jay Friedlander was Professor Emeritus at University of South Florida's Zimmerman School of Advertising & Mass Communications until his passing in 2020. He served as School Director from 1995 to 2010 - the longest administrative tenure in the school's history. Previously chaired Journalism at University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he also held emeritus rank.

Co-authored three journalism textbooks used by over 250 universities worldwide including Harvard. Published 25+ academic articles, edited FCC reports, and produced a nationally televised documentary. Professional experience includes reporting for newspapers in Wyoming, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Arkansas, with freelance work appearing in 40+ publications.
