Edward Davis is a Professor of Geography and Environmental Science at Emory & Henry College. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois (1989), M.A. from UNC Charlotte (1983), and B.A. from UNC Chapel Hill (1981). His research focuses on cultural and political geography of the U.S. South, Central America, and Western Europe, with recent work on rural change, sustainability, and seed preservation. He co-authored four books including Religion, Sustainability, and Place: Moral Geographies of the Anthropocene (2021) and frequently presents at academic conferences.

His research interests span geographic theory, rural conditions, and environmental sustainability. He has been recognized with the College’s Hope Award and three teaching/service awards.
Dr. Davis collaborates closely with students, leading fieldwork across Appalachia and co-authoring papers on topics like college football geography. He also supports sustainability initiatives in Virginia and has conducted field research in multiple countries.
