Edward C Page is the Sidney and Beatrice Webb Professor of Public Policy at the London School of Economics (LSE), Department of Government, and a Fellow of the British Academy (FBA). He has been at LSE since 2001, following academic roles at the University of Strathclyde and the University of Hull. His research focuses on comparative public administration, British government, law-making processes, and bureaucracy. He holds a BA in German and Politics (CNAA, 1976), MSc (Strathclyde, 1977), and PhD (Strathclyde, 1982).
Professor Page’s work explores institutional dynamics, policy formation, and the role of expertise in governance. Key interests include bureaucratic accountability, cross-national policy learning, and the evolving relationship between legislation and policy. He has authored influential books such as Policy without Politicians (2012) and Governing by Numbers (2001), and serves as Editor of the Journal of Public Policy.
