Edward Brudney is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. His research focuses on the legal and labor history of Latin America, particularly Argentina during the 1970s and 1980s. He holds a Ph.D. in History from Indiana University (2019), an M.A. in Latin American and Caribbean Studies (2013), and a B.A. in History and Spanish from Wesleyan University (2007). His work examines labor relations, state policies, and citizenship during periods of political upheaval, with a current book project analyzing Argentina’s labor legislation under civilian and military governments during the global economic crises of the late 1970s.
His major awards include a Visiting Fellowship at the Kellogg Institute (2024), an ACLS Project Development Grant (2023–24), and multiple fellowships supporting his research in Latin America and Europe. He actively participates in academic organizations such as the American Historical Association and the Latin American Studies Association.
Brudney teaches courses on Latin American history, labor movements, and postcolonial studies. His research interests also encompass Cold War dynamics, oral history, and the history of capitalism. Recent publications include articles on telecommunications workers in rural Argentina and collaborative works on memory and justice in Buenos Aires.
