Edward A. Parson is the Dan and Rae Emmett Professor of Environmental Law and Faculty Co-Director of the Emmett Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at UCLA School of Law. He specializes in international environmental law and policy, science's role in policy-making, and the political economy of regulation. His research bridges law, science, and governance, with a focus on climate change mitigation, geoengineering, and ozone layer protection. Parson holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from Harvard University and has served on advisory boards for the National Academy of Sciences and the U.S. Global Change Research Program. He has authored influential books, including Protecting the Ozone Layer (winner of the 2004 Sprout Award), and his recent work explores governance challenges of solar geoengineering and carbon dioxide removal. Parson advises on climate policy at international forums and teaches courses on environmental decision-making and climate law.
