Edoardo Traversa

Edoardo Traversa serves as Professor of Tax Law and European Law at the Faculty of Law and Criminology, Catholic University of Leuven (UCLouvain), and directs the Institute of European Studies. He concurrently holds visiting professorships at KU Leuven and WU Vienna.

His research centers on:

• European fiscal integration and harmonization challenges
• International taxation frameworks in globalization
• Fiscal/financial federalism within EU structures
• EU indirect taxation systems, particularly VAT
• Constitutional constraints on national tax policies under EU law

Traversa actively bridges academia and policy through advisory roles for EU/Belgian institutions and legal practice as Of Counsel at Arteo (Brussels Bar). Recent engagements include organizing the 2023 International Congress on AI-driven tax systems and 2022 seminar series on digital transformation in tax law.

As Director of the Institute of European Studies, he leads multidisciplinary research on European integration, law, and policy formation.
