Edoardo Ciscato is an Associate Professor at the KU Leuven Department of Economics, holding a Ph.D. in Economics from Sciences Po Paris. His work bridges Labor Economics and Family Economics, with a focus on Matching Markets and Human Capital Formation.
Dr. Ciscato specializes in the theoretical and empirical modeling of static/dynamic matching markets (with/without frictions) and their implications for marital sorting, divorce, and inequality. His research also examines microeconomic family behaviors—such as labor supply and task-sharing—and their aggregate economic effects.
- Key Contributions:
- Chiappori, Ciscato, and Guerriero (2020) used Italian family data to show human capital as the second most significant marital sorting dimension after birth cohort.
- Analysis of wage uncertainty and its impact on marriage/divorce patterns over the life-cycle.
His findings highlight how parental education, health habits, and labor participation correlate with child outcomes like academic performance and eating behavior. He uses CHILDROLE Project data from Naples (Italy) and collaborates with the Family Inequality (FI) Network.
