معرفی
Edmund Webb III is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Mechanics at Lehigh University, where he has been a faculty member since 2010. Prior to this, he spent 12 years as a research scientist at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM, focusing on materials and mechanics problems using high-performance computing.
Education
- Ph.D. in Ceramic and Materials Science and Engineering, Rutgers University
- MS in Ceramic Engineering, Rutgers University
Research Interests
Dr. Webb specializes in multiscale simulation techniques to study fundamental phenomena in materials mechanics. His work includes stress evolution in nanostructures and thin films, capillary-driven fluid flow in reactive systems, and mass/heat transport at dissimilar material interfaces. Current studies emphasize nanoscale thermal transport and computational modeling of mechanical responses.
Scientific Awards
- Recognition Award from Sandia National Laboratories
Dr. Webb's research integrates high-performance computing with experimental validation, focusing on predictive modeling of complex material behaviors. His lab at Lehigh's Packard facility addresses critical challenges in mechanical reliability and fluid dynamics, building on a career bridging academic and national laboratory environments.
