Edijs Šmagris serves as a Lecturer at Riga Stradins University within the Faculty of Medicine, specifically in the Department of Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care and Clinical Simulations. He also holds dual roles as a Clinical Skills Specialist and Clinical Simulation Specialist at the Medical Education Technology Center, along with being an Ergonomics Specialist at the Institute of Occupational Safety and Environmental Health.
His research focuses on medical imaging technologies and physiological monitoring, with particular expertise in digital thermography, ergonomical motion tracking, and surface electromyography. His work bridges clinical medicine with technological applications, especially in simulation-based medical education and occupational health.
Dr. Šmagris has developed and taught several key courses including Standardized Situations in Clinical Medicine, Clinical Skills, Essentials of Internal Diseases, and Pneumology. His publications reflect an interdisciplinary approach combining medical education, physiological monitoring, and ergonomics.
As an active researcher and educator, he contributes to both medical education technology and occupational health fields, with publications spanning thermographic applications, clinical simulation effectiveness, and physiological changes related to aging and ergonomics.
Dr. Šmagris is currently completing his residency as an Occupational Physician at Riga Stradins University while maintaining his teaching and research responsibilities across multiple departments.
