Edgar B. Hardesty, PhD, is an Adjunct Professor of Bible at Lancaster Bible College (LBC) within the School of Bible & Ministry since 2022. His career includes roles as Senior Pastor (1981–present), teacher at Perry Hall Christian School (1981–82), Baltimore School of the Bible (1981–85), and Cairn University (1991–2021) where he held the rank of Professor of Bible, Archaeology, and Jewish Studies. He also serves in Lancaster, PA.
Dr. Hardesty holds a PhD from Towson University, a ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary, an MA from Baltimore Hebrew University, and additional studies from Jerusalem University College and the University of Baltimore.
His research focuses on Old Testament studies, biblical archaeology, and Jewish history. Notable areas include Proverbs' ethical teachings, Israelite territorial strategies, and Israelite-Philistine dynamics. His work bridges academic rigor with practical theological application.
He has published studies on familial theology in Proverbs, geopolitical analysis of Benjamin Plateau, and Israelite-Philistine conflicts in the Shephelah. His awards include the Joseph Heller Loveman Prize for Jewish History and the Gedalia and Chana Prize for Jewish Studies excellence.
Dr. Hardesty’s teaching spans foundational courses like 'Creation and Covenants' (OT I) and 'Israel’s Life and Literature' (OT II). Though no formal grants or lab affiliations are noted, his work emphasizes interdisciplinary biblical scholarship.
