Dr. Edda L. Fields-Black is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Carnegie Mellon University. Her research focuses on African American history, particularly the Civil War era and Black freedom movements, as highlighted in her upcoming book Combee': Harriet Tubman, the Combahee River Raid, and Black Freedom during the Civil War (Oxford University Press). She has contributed to public discourse through media appearances, including the Sanctuary for Independent Media's Reclaiming History series discussing Harriet Tubman's role in freeing over 700 individuals via the Combahee River Raid.
