Ed Smith

Ed Smith is a Professor of Mathematics at Jacksonville State University (JSU), affiliated with the Mathematical, Computing, & Information Sciences Department in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Sciences. He joined JSU in 1995 after serving as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at John Brown University in Arkansas.

Research focuses on packing and covering problems in three dimensions and mathematics education assessment. He has extensive teaching experience at various academic levels, instructing courses ranging from introductory mathematics (e.g., MS 100, MS 110) to advanced topics (e.g., MS 537).

Professional membership includes the American Mathematical Society, Mathematical Association of America, Alabama Association of College Teachers of Mathematics, and Council on Undergraduate Research. His other responsibilities involve curriculum assessment and three-dimensional spatial reasoning research.
