معرفی
Prof. Eckehard Specht serves as Professor and Chair of Thermodynamics and Combustion at the Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics within the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany. His research spans thermal engineering, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and industrial process optimization, with particular expertise in rotary kiln technology, tunnel kiln processes, metal cooling and quenching, and combustion systems.
His research interests focus on thermal processes in industrial applications, particularly in:
- Heat transfer mechanisms in rotary kilns and tunnel kilns
- Quenching processes and metal cooling technologies
- Combustion optimization and flame characterization
- CO2 separation technologies and energy efficiency in industrial processes
- Thermophysical properties of materials at high temperatures
Prof. Specht's recent work demonstrates a strong focus on energy optimization in industrial thermal processes, with numerous projects examining ways to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions in ceramic manufacturing, metal processing, and lime production. His research combines experimental investigations with advanced computational modeling to understand complex thermal phenomena, including DEM simulations, CFD analysis, and particle-resolved modeling approaches.
His laboratory work focuses on experimental analysis of thermal processes, with specialized equipment for studying heat transfer in rotary kilns, tunnel kilns, and metal cooling systems. His team employs advanced measurement techniques including infrared thermography, CFD simulations, and particle-resolved modeling to investigate complex thermal phenomena. Current projects include intensification of drying processes, influence of ejection on cooling during continuous casting of non-ferrous metals, and development of lime-based solid-state reactors for CO2 separation.
Prof. Specht has received research funding for multiple projects examining energy optimization in industrial thermal processes, with particular emphasis on achieving CO2-free production in ceramic manufacturing by 2050. His work on tunnel kiln optimization has demonstrated potential energy savings of up to 60% in ceramic manufacturing processes.
