Ebru Çoruh is a Professor at Gaziantep University's Faculty of Fine Arts in the Department of Textile and Fashion Design. With over two decades of academic experience, she has progressed through the ranks from Research Assistant to her current professorship. Her academic journey includes positions at both Gaziantep University and Çukurova University, demonstrating her commitment to textile education and research.
Dr. Çoruh completed her PhD in Textile Engineering at Çukurova University (2004-2011), following a Master's degree in Textile Engineering at Gaziantep University (2000-2004), and a Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering at Süleyman Demirel University (1995-1999). Her educational background established a strong foundation for her interdisciplinary approach that bridges engineering, art, and cultural heritage.
Her research interests span traditional Turkish handicrafts, sustainable textile production, historical textile patterns, and the influence of art movements on textile and fashion design. She has made significant contributions to understanding how traditional motifs like Rumi, Çintemani, and Kutnu can be modernized through art movements such as Cubism, Expressionism, and Art Nouveau. Her work also addresses contemporary challenges including post-earthquake memorial design, wearable technology integration with traditional garments, and sustainable textile practices.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on cultural heritage preservation through modern design approaches. Her work consistently bridges traditional Turkish textile arts with contemporary design methodologies, examining how historical patterns and techniques can be adapted for modern applications. The earthquake memorial design research demonstrates her engagement with current social issues through textile design.

Professor Çoruh has successfully supervised 12 master's theses, demonstrating her commitment to mentoring the next generation of textile designers. Her research projects have secured funding from national sources, including three completed research projects with her as principal investigator on topics related to functional fashion products and machine carpet design. She has also been active in international collaborations through Erasmus and Farabi exchange programs.
Her artistic practice extends beyond academia through numerous exhibitions that showcase the intersection of traditional textile techniques with contemporary design. She has participated in over 50 national and international art exhibitions, often focusing on themes of cultural heritage, sustainability, and innovative textile applications.
