Prof. Eberhard Morgenroth is a Full Professor of Process Engineering in Urban Water Management at ETH Zürich and holds a joint appointment at Eawag. He specializes in water treatment technologies, biofilm control, and decentralized wastewater systems. His research focuses on membrane bioreactors, biofilm reactors, and sustainable water reuse.
Education: MS (University of California, 1994), Dipl.-Ing. (Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg, 1995), PhD (Technical University of Munich, 1998). Postdoctoral research at Technical University of Denmark, followed by a professorship at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2000–2009).
Research interests include:
- Membrane bioreactors and water reuse mechanisms
- Biofilm formation and control in reactors
- Biological drinking water treatment
- Decentralized wastewater treatment and socio-economic aspects
Awards:

Teaching: Leads courses such as 'Process Engineering Ia' and 'Systems Analysis in Urban Water Management' at ETH Zürich. Actively involved in lab-based research and interdisciplinary projects.
