Dr. Ebbie A. Stewart serves as Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, with joint appointments in the Department of Surgery, Division of Endocrinology (Department of Internal Medicine), and Department of Physiology & Biomedical Engineering. She directs the Reproductive Endocrinology fellowship program and provides clinical care for infertility and uterine disorders through the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
Her academic training includes:
- MD from Harvard Medical School
- Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brigham and Women's/Massachusetts General Hospitals
- Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at Brigham and Women's Hospital
- BA in Molecular Biology (magna cum laude) from Vanderbilt University
Dr. Stewart's research investigates uterine fibroids and adenomyosis with emphasis on health disparities affecting Black patients who experience earlier onset and more severe symptoms. Her NIH-funded work spans epidemiology, genetics, economics, and novel treatments including MR-guided focused ultrasound and uterine artery embolization. She pioneers behavioral interventions to eliminate disparities and studies long-term hysterectomy outcomes while developing prevention strategies for uterine diseases.

Her leadership extends to Mayo Clinic's Women's Health Research Center as Co-Leader and Executive Committee Member.
Dr. Stewart co-leads the COMPARE-UF registry and serves on multiple advisory panels including ACOG's Pain and Bleeding Panel. Her interdisciplinary teams conduct clinical trials in reproductive medicine while investigating adenomyosis pathogenesis and uterine contributions to infertility through the Women's Health Research Center.
