Ebba Brink is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies (LUCSUS) at Lund University. Her work focuses on climate adaptation, nature-based solutions, and interdisciplinary approaches to sustainability science.
Dr. Brink's research interests include climate change adaptation, urban planning, nature-based solutions, disaster risk reduction, resistance and social mobilisation, and sustainability science. She investigates how cities and people manage climate-related risks, with particular attention to the role of nature in these processes. Her current research examines synergies and conflicts around climate adaptation in informal settlements in rapidly urbanizing cities in the Global South, especially in Brazil and Colombia.
Analysis of Dr. Brink's recent publications reveals a strong focus on the intersection of climate adaptation, social justice, and governance. Her work increasingly examines resistance movements and grassroots responses to top-down adaptation policies, highlighting power dynamics and equity considerations in climate action. She also explores conceptual frameworks for understanding human-nature relationships in urban contexts, particularly in the Global South.
Dr. Brink has contributed to several significant research projects including Urban Arena (ongoing), favelAdapt (2019-2023), and RESIST (2019-2024). These projects have involved transdisciplinary collaboration with municipal planners, ecologists, and community organizations in Sweden and Latin America. Her policy-relevant work includes co-authoring planning tools and reports for Swedish municipalities and contributing to the IPBES Values Assessment.
