Earl Braggs

Earl S. Braggs is a Professor in the Department of English at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC), specializing in Creative Writing, African American Literature, and Russian Literature. His research focuses on analyzing 'Racism in America' through literary expression and exploring place/travel writing. A recipient of multiple teaching awards, including two SGA Outstanding Professor Awards and the UTNAA Outstanding Teacher Award, Braggs has also won prestigious literary prizes such as the Jack Kerouac International Literary Prize and the Anhinga Poetry Prize.

His recent prose publication Boy Named Boy, a Memoir (Wet Cement Press, 2021) complements 14 poetry collections, including Cruising Weather Wind Blue (Anhinga Press). Teaching interests include American Short Story and Playwriting.
