Elizabeth Archuleta is a Professor (Lecturer) in the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of Utah, within the School for Cultural and Social Transformation. She holds a PhD in English from Pennsylvania State University (2002), an MA from the same institution (1996), and a BA from Westminster College (1994). Her work focuses on Indigenous Studies, Gender Studies, and Ethnic Studies, with a particular emphasis on Indigenous literature, cultural revitalization, and advocacy for underrepresented students.
Her research engages topics such as narrative representation, decolonial theory, and museum policy. Notable publications include analyses of works by Simon J. Ortiz, Leslie Marmon Silko, and Sherman Alexie, alongside critical studies of Indigenous activism and feminist theory. She has received accolades including the Faculty of the Game Recognition (2020) and the Gilberto Espinosa Prize (2007).
Archuleta teaches courses like Indigenous Women and American Indian Experiences, and has advised students through TRIO/TRIBES programs. Her advocacy extends to leadership roles in multicultural education and sustainability initiatives.
