ELENA GOMEZ COSTAS

Elena Gomez Costas is a Research Fellow at the University of Vigo, affiliated with the School of Industrial Engineering and Department of Chemical Engineering as a member of the EQ1 FEQxLab research group.

She earned her PhD from the University of Vigo in 2008 with doctoral research focused on liquid-vapor equilibrium and physical properties of ternary systems involving ethanol, water, and ionic liquids, supervised by Dra. Ángeles Domínguez Santiago and Dr. Begoña Gonzalez de Prado.

Her research spans Chemical Engineering with specialization in Thermodynamics, Separation Processes, and Ionic Liquids. Work centers on phase behavior in complex mixtures, particularly vapor-liquid equilibrium modeling for systems containing ionic liquids, which has direct applications in sustainable solvent design and industrial separation process optimization. Current efforts advance experimental measurement techniques for thermodynamic properties in multi-component chemical systems.

Dr. Gomez Costas contributes to the FEQxLab research group, conducting experimental and computational studies on thermophysical properties of novel chemical systems, with emphasis on environmentally relevant separation technologies.
