E.A.M. Bulder is a Professor at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, specializing in regional development, economic history, and social welfare. He holds a PhD from Erasmus University (1993) and a Master's in History from the University of Groningen (1988). Currently leading the Research Centre for Built Environment – NoorderRuimte, his work focuses on liveability, demographic transition, and urban-rural dynamics in the Northern Netherlands. Since 1994, he has also served as Managing Director of Onderzoeksbureau Elles Bulder.
Key research areas include regional development indicators, migration patterns, and inclusive societal policies. Notable projects include the ‘Experiment Krewerd’ resilience study (2024-2026) and the ‘GO! Cursus’ initiative promoting community engagement. He has authored over 50 publications, including works on heritage management and disaster risk reduction in rural contexts.
