Dr. Dylan Olver is an Associate Professor in the Department of Veterinary Biomedical Sciences at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. His research focuses on vascular physiology, chronic disease prevention, and the role of exercise and nutrition in mitigating vascular and cognitive pathologies. He holds a MSc and PhD from The University of Western Ontario's Exercise Nutrition Research Lab and Neurovascular Research Lab, respectively, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Missouri-Columbus' Cardiovascular & Microcirculation Groups.
His research interests include understanding the environmental origins of vascular disease and developing interventions targeting vascular dysfunction and cognitive impairment. Key areas include insulin resistance in obesity, sex hormone effects on cerebrovascular health, and exercise-based treatments for vascular disorders. He employs a molecule-to-patient approach, studying human populations and animal models (e.g., pigs, miniswine) to bridge basic science and clinical applications.
Dr. Olver’s publications emphasize exercise’s therapeutic role in vascular health, biomarker development for cognitive dysfunction, and hormonal influences on cardiovascular outcomes. Though no scientific awards are listed, his work contributes to translational research in chronic disease management. He currently accepts students for undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral research, emphasizing direct communication for opportunities.
