Dr. Duy Phan is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, University of Queensland. He works in the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences and holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on identifying novel virulence factors in uropathogenic Escherichia coli (ST131 clone) using high-throughput transposon mutagenesis and next-gen sequencing, alongside studying multidrug-resistant plasmids.
- Education: BSc from University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam), PhD at University of Cambridge.
- Research Interests: Medical microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, bacterial pathogenesis, plasmid biology, genomics, and non-invasive diagnostics.
- Supervision: Associate advisor for multiple PhD candidates at University of Queensland.
- Funding: Lead investigator on NHMRC and MRFF grants for uropathogenic E. coli research and microbiome studies.
- Collaborations: Works with Prof. Mark Schembri and Prof. Scott Beatson on infectious disease projects.
