He has published extensively in top journals such as Journal of Communication, Human Communication Research, and Political Behavior.
Dr. Carnahan's work emphasizes understanding misperception formation and evaluating corrective strategies like fact-checking. He teaches courses including Political Communication, Misinformation and Fake News, and Communication Campaign Design. He is affiliated with the Health and Risk Communication Center and the Institute for Public Policy and Social Research, contributing to interdisciplinary research on communication interventions and public policy impacts.
