معرفی
Dr Duncan Palmer is a SMARTbiomed Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, jointly based at the Big Data Institute (BDI) and the Department of Statistics. He co-leads the Biobank Rare-Variant Consortium (BRaVa), a global collaboration of 16 biobanks and cohorts, and the (gen)omics theme at the BDI.
His educational background includes:
- Integrated master's degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Warwick
- DPhil in Statistics from the University of Oxford (supervised by Professor Dame Angela McLean and Professor Gil McVean)
He completed postdoctoral research with Professor Ben Neale, Dr Nick Patterson, and Professor Cecilia Lindgren at Massachusetts General Hospital, the Broad Institute, and the University of Oxford. His research develops statistical and computational methods to understand disease mechanisms through integration of genetic, phenotypic, and functional data, with emphasis on refining association signals and elucidating genetic architecture of complex traits. He builds scalable computational approaches for massive genetic datasets and leads international collaborations on large-scale human genetic variation studies.
Dr Palmer is a core member of the SMARTbiomed research group and directs major international consortia in rare variant analysis.
