Dubravka Havaš Auguštin

Dr. Dubravka Havaš Auguštin serves as a Scientific Associate at the Institute for Anthropological Research in Zagreb, Croatia since 2016, while maintaining adjunct teaching positions at the University of Zagreb. She teaches Biological Anthropology at the Faculty of Science and Introduction to Anthropology/Molecular Archaeogenetics at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Her academic credentials include a PhD in Biology (2011) and B.Sc. in Molecular Biology (2003), both earned at the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Science, where she was awarded the Scientific Associate title in Natural Sciences, Biology in 2019.

Specializing in population genetics and molecular anthropology, her research integrates genetic analysis with anthropological frameworks to study Croatian island populations, Slavic origins, and ancient DNA. She has developed significant expertise in next-generation sequencing, ancient DNA analysis, and forensic genomics through extensive international scientific training.

Her scientific recognition includes the Austrian Academy of Sciences' JESH fellowship (2021), European Society for Human Genetics Fellowship (2013), and multiple ECOGENE stipends from the European Commission (2005-2012).

Dr. Auguštin has secured substantial research funding through Horizon Europe, NIH collaborations, and Croatian Science Foundation projects, demonstrating leadership in field research organization for cohort studies and biological laboratory management. She has coordinated international collaborations with institutions across Europe and the United States.

As Head of the Laboratory for Molecular Anthropology (2020-2022), she directed molecular research at the Centre for Applied Bioanthropology. Her organizational leadership extends to international conferences including the ISABS Forensic Genetics Conference and European Anthropological Association Congresses, where she has served on organizational boards.
