Drew Springall is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Auburn University's Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. His work focuses on cybersecurity, internet protocols, and election security. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Alabama.

His research explores security and privacy challenges in core internet protocols like TLS, IPsec, and SSH, with particular emphasis on protecting against highly privileged adversaries. Springall has conducted critical analyses of systems such as Estonia's internet voting infrastructure and has pioneered studies on FTP protocol risks.
His recent work includes an NSF-funded initiative to enhance AI and cybersecurity education through cross-disciplinary teaching strategies. Springall has contributed to public discourse on election security, appearing in media discussions about online voting vulnerabilities.
He is affiliated with the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity Engineering at Auburn University and actively participates in research on mitigating threats to critical infrastructure systems.
