Dragos Amarie

Dr. Dragos Amarie serves as Associate Professor of Physics in the Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Physics at Georgia Southern University's College of Science and Mathematics, where he also directs the Study Abroad Program – Romania: Science and Culture from his office in the Math/Physics Building, Room 2012 on the Statesboro Campus.

Dr. Amarie's research pioneers microfluidic device development for live cell migration studies, focusing on cancer cell responses to chemical landscapes to elucidate relapse mechanisms. His group fabricates polymer-based microchannels smaller than human hair to generate precise concentration gradients, while advancing micron-scale optical biosensors for real-time biomolecular interaction monitoring at single-cell resolution.

His publication trends reveal interdisciplinary convergence of physics, engineering, and oncology, exemplified by his 2020 Sensors article on label-free biosensing. This work underpins his lab's trajectory toward investigating cell-cell communication and secretion dynamics through miniaturized sensor integration.
