Doğukan Doğu Yavaşlı is an Associate Professor at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Science and Arts, Ahi Evran University. His academic journey began with a BA (2002–2006), followed by an MSc in Geographic Information Systems (2006–2009), and a PhD in Physical Geography (2009–2015) at Ege University. He has held full-time research assistant roles at Ege University (2011–2016) and Ahi Evran University (2016–2017) before his current associate professorship.

His research spans Remote Sensing, Biogeography, Ecology, and Climatology, with a focus on spatiotemporal climate analysis, forest biomass modeling, and geoarchaeology. Recent work includes assessing Mediterranean continentality trends, tropical night patterns, and aridity projections using CMIP6 models. His publications highlight glacier extent changes, urban heat islands, and environmental impacts of the pandemic.
His 15 most recent articles (2015–2025) reveal expertise in climate variability, remote sensing of ecosystems, and historical landscape reconstruction. Notable collaborations include projects with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (2014–2015) via a 2214-A Research Fellowship and a Fulbright Research Grant at the University of Maryland (2010–2011).
He has served as Department Head (2017–2020) and Erasmus Coordinator (2016–present) at Ahi Evran University, contributing to academic governance and international collaboration. His work involves extensive field projects in Turkey, such as Neogene fossil site surveys and UAV-based vegetation analysis.
