Douglas Wunneburger

Douglas Wunneburger is an Instructional Professor at Texas A&M University's Department of Landscape Architecture & Urban Planning. He is affiliated with the Hazard Reduction & Recovery Center and holds a Ph.D. in Remote Sensing/GIS from Texas A&M (1992), an M.F. in Forestry from Stephen F. Austin State University (1981), and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Texas (1977).

His research focuses on spatial analysis of demographic impacts, policy spatial effects, and disaster management applications. Key studies include hurricane evacuation modeling, participatory GIS for marginalized communities, and high-speed rail route optimization using spatial decision support systems.

He has contributed to studies on sex offender spatial distribution, forest habitat management for endangered species, and early GIS software development for natural resource management. His work bridges geospatial technologies with urban planning, public policy, and environmental conservation.
