Douglas Shahan is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Georgetown University's Center for Security Studies. A retired U.S. Air Force Colonel with 27 years of Cyberspace Operations experience, he served as lead planner for U.S. Cyber Command's Defensive Cyber Operations concept and authored the directive for JFHQ-DODIN. His Pentagon tenure involved shaping DoD cyber policy for senior leadership, including the Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He commanded joint/coalition forces in Europe and Africa, focusing on defensive cyber operations. Currently, he advises the Office of the Secretary of Defense and Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs at MITRE Corporation on national C2 matters.
