معرفی
Dr. Douglas S. F. Ling is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. His research focuses on
- Trauma-induced changes in cortical circuit physiology
- GABAergic inhibition mechanisms in post-TBI neuropathology
- Development of radiofrequency-based neural signal detection methods
Research interests include understanding how traumatic brain injury disrupts the balance between excitatory and inhibitory neural circuits, leading to conditions like posttraumatic epilepsy. His work explores nootropic agents' effects on GABA receptor modulation and therapeutic interventions for neurotrauma.
Recent publications highlight discoveries such as:
- 2024: Extracellular volume pulsations linked to epileptiform activity via NBCe1 transporters
- 2023: Brivaracetam's preventive role against posttraumatic epileptogenesis
- 2022: Electrophysiological validation of levetiracetam's neuroprotective timing
Methodologically, his lab employs
- In vitro and in vivo TBI models
- Electrophysiology
- Behavioral testing
- Advanced microscopy
