Douglas Kell

Douglas Kell is a Research Professor in the School of Chemistry at the University of Manchester, where he holds the EPSRC/RSC Research Chair in Bioanalytical Sciences. He previously served as Chief Executive of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) from 2008 to 2013. He holds honorary positions as Associated Scientific Director at the Danish Technical University and Extraordinary Professor at Stellenbosch University. His research focuses on systems biology, metabolomics, and developing analytical methods for complex biological problems. Key contributions include directing the Manchester Centre for Integrative Systems Biology and pioneering work in metabolic pathway reconstruction and synthetic biology.
