Douglas H. MacDonald is a Professor of Archaeology in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Montana. His work focuses on Native American archaeology in Montana, Wyoming, and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. MacDonald has authored and co-edited multiple books, including Before Yellowstone (2018), Montana Before History (2012), and Land of Beginnings: The Archaeology of Montana's First Peoples (2024). His research involves extensive fieldwork, collaboration with Indigenous tribes, and graduate student mentorship.
