Douglas Farenick is a Professor of Mathematics and Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Regina. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto (1990), specializing in operator theory. His research focuses on noncommutative convexity, Toeplitz operators, C*-algebras, and quantum probability measures, with over 50 refereed publications and two authored books: Fundamentals of Functional Analysis (2016) and Algebras of Linear Transformations (2001).
- Education: PhD in Mathematics from University of Toronto, supervised by Chandler Davis
Teaching spans calculus, linear algebra, quantum information theory, and online curriculum development. Notable community work includes co-creating Science Camps for Saskatchewan Indigenous Youth and serving as President of the Canadian Council of Deans of Science (2019–2022). His service includes roles at TRIUMF, PIMS Board, and editorial leadership for Operators and Matrices.
