Doug Weiser is a Professor and Department Co-Chair in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of the Pacific (Stockton campus). He holds a PhD from Duke University (2004) and a BA from the College of Wooster (1999).
Dr. Weiser’s research focuses on cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and the developmental biology of zebrafish. His work explores mechanisms such as endoplasmic reticulum stress, phosphatase regulation, mitochondrial dynamics, and cell motility during gastrulation.
His recent publications highlight zebrafish models for studying
- unfolded protein response and apoptosis
- dynamics of phosphatase targeting subunits (GADD34, CReP)
- mitochondrial localization of TRAK proteins
- regulation of myosin phosphatase activity
- septin gene splicing in development
- role of Gravin in cell shape changes
