Dr. Doug Linde is a Professor of Turf Management and Head Golf Coach at Delaware Valley University. He holds a B.S. (1991) from DelVal, followed by an M.S. (1993) and Ph.D. (1996) in Agronomy/Turfgrass from Penn State. His career at DelVal was influenced by his father, a DelVal alumnus and golf course superintendent, and his own desire to blend athletics with agronomy.
He emphasizes experiential learning, integrating field trips, hands-on projects (e.g., designing golf courses, equipment calibration), and 'Screen Free Fridays' to engage students. His teaching focuses on preparing students for careers in turf management through practical skills and industry connections.
Beyond academics, Linde coaches the Golf Team, advises the Turf Club, and oversees the campus turf research facility and putting green. Notable student success stories include Steve McDonald ’03, a top Mid-Atlantic golf course consultant, and Joel Foreman ’09, superintendent at Pikewood National Golf Club. Linde prioritizes student work experience, recommending three summer internships in turf management to build industry-ready skills.
