Doug Barrick is the Thomas C. Jenkins Professor and Chair of Biophysics at Johns Hopkins University. He holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University and a B.A. from the University of Colorado, with research focusing on protein folding thermodynamics, repeat protein architecture, Notch signaling, and consensus-based protein design.
His laboratory studies the folding of repeat proteins using statistical mechanical models to understand stability and cooperativity. Recent work explores consensus sequence design to create hyperstable proteins and structural analysis of Notch signaling complexes. The group employs techniques including X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, and single-molecule fluorescence.
