Dorothy Wong is a Professor in the McIntire Department of Art at the University of Virginia, specializing in Chinese Buddhist Art, Images and Relics, and The Silk Road. Her regional focus spans China (Medieval Period) and Japan (Classical Period).
Research Interests: Her work explores cross-cultural exchanges along the Silk Road, the evolution of Buddhist art, and the symbolic role of relics and monuments. Key themes include medieval East Asian cultural interactions, religious iconography, and artistic transmission via pilgrim-monks.
