Prof. Dr. Dorothea Sattler is a leading academic in Catholic Theology at the University of Münster, where she has served as a professor since 2000 and directs the Ecumenical Institute. Her work focuses on reconciliation among Christian denominations and overcoming theological divisions.
- Born in 1961 in Koblenz
- Studied Catholic Theology and Romance Studies at Freiburg im Breisgau and Mainz
- Doctorate (1992) and Habilitation (1996) at University of Mainz
- Former visiting professor at Free University of Berlin and professor at University of Wuppertal
Sattler has been instrumental in ecumenical dialogue, notably as Catholic Academic Director of the Ecumenical Working Group of Protestant and Catholic Theologians since 2005. Her leadership produced the groundbreaking study Together at the Lord's Table – Ecumenical Perspectives on the Celebration of Holy Communion and the Eucharist, advocating for mutual Protestant-Catholic participation in Holy Communion. At the German Bishops’ Conference’s 'Synodal Path,' she co-chairs the forum Women in Services and Offices in the Church with Bishop Franz-Josef Bode.
