Dr. Dorothea König is a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at the University of Vienna's Department of Clinical Psychology of Adulthood within the Institute of Clinical and Health Psychology. She holds a PhD in Psychology (with distinction) from the University of Vienna and has been a permanent faculty member since 2017. Her research focuses on emotion regulation in clinical contexts, particularly in relation to chronic pain, anxiety, and depression. She has authored/co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, with recent work exploring cultural influences on emotion regulation and digital health interventions.

Research Interests: Emotion regulation, clinical psychology, health psychology, biofeedback, stress management, and the psychological impact of chronic illnesses like migraine.
Recent Trends in Articles: Her work emphasizes translational research bridging basic emotion science and clinical practice. Studies investigate how emotion regulation strategies (e.g., reappraisal) influence mental health outcomes in diverse populations, including migraine patients and socially anxious individuals. She also explores cross-cultural differences in emotion processing and digital health tools for mental well-being.
