Dorota Walentynowicz

Dorota Walentynowicz is a contemporary artist, researcher, and educator at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Faculty of Sculpture and Intermedia. Her work interrogates the media conditioning of the gaze, challenging authoritarian perspectives in visual culture and artistic production.

• Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań (photography) and Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague (art-science)
• PhD from Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk (2022)
• Co-founder of Plenum of Caregivers and Feminist Seminar

Research Focus: Explores postphotography, feminist methodologies, and horizontal models of artistic collaboration. Her practice combines installation, photography, and critical theory to deconstruct power dynamics in art institutions.

Exhibitions & Collections: Her works have been exhibited at prestigious venues including Folkwang Museum Essen, Transmediale Berlin, and WRO Art Biennale Wrocław. They are held in permanent collections of the City of Gdańsk, National Museum in Wrocław, City of Strasbourg, and CCA Andratx.

Awards & Residencies: Recognized for her contributions through international residencies and scholarships, which have supported her transdisciplinary work bridging art and science.
